Thank you for that. I absolutely agree that SL is not the way to go, and that we must keep it simple. However, I do think SL has potential in midwifery education, when we can provide all the resources and target training. And the more I think about it, the more I believe the lack of constraints and restrictions in SL can be harnessed to make students think about birth in a natural environment. So the conference had a positive outcome in that respect because it has underpinned some brainstorming I am currently doing with a colleague. And who knows what will come of it.

Sarah, yours was the most heartfelt presentation. I hope you find a mix of social media that meets the demanding needs of your profession with its heavy time constraints. My own feeling is that SL in its current form is not the way to go. In your position I would tend in the direction of John Eyles' approach to podcasting and videocasting as being more time efficient and accessible by your peers.

I enjoyed myself, but as with any conference, there was stuff that engaged me and stuff that didn't. I missed John Earles session which I am sad about but I hope his video recording is made available soon. Have a safe trip back to Oz. Look forward to reading your blog in the future. cheers Sarah

[...] As a person of considerable age I really love these simple online Flash games. You can play them quickly in the browser, the rules take 30 seconds to understand, they keep you challenged for hours, there are many to choose from, and most are free up to a certain level of complexity. My favourite site is PopCap with Peggle and Zuma being my favourites. My wife is totally hooked on Bookworm which we had to actually buy. Of course I was previously attracted to Desktop Tower Defense. [...]

I have a fairly complete list of all the on-line mind mapping sites here:-
http://www.mind-mapping.org/web-based-mindmappers/graphical.html
This tells you what's free (some are free without ads), subscription rates for other and so on.
It also has a chart showing which of these can talk to FreeMind and MindManager.

Whether InfoWOE allows the Eee PC to be connected to a large external monitor is a good question. Often ouside of office/home, even at work, a monitor is not available, so the web app still has to usable on the Eee alone. However, increasingly in accommodation on the road the TV is digital and capable of being Eee connected.

May need a dual Eee standard. In any case when the 9" 1024 px Eee is with us quite a lot of the screen size concerns will diminish.
