Public attitude to the Australian Software Industry

At last a federal government report appreciates the hard work and value generated by the Australian software industry. The DCITA report The Australian software industry & vertical applications markets ends with the quote:

‘The Australian software industry is globally successful, but we consider that it is domestically undervalued. Its global success has come predominantly through individual entrepreneurial effort, often at great personal sacrifice, rather than from a coordinated industry focused process.’

This is the message we need to get across to schoolchildren that the industry is successful and offers interesting, challenging and well-paid jobs, even though the public does not appreciate this.
