3D Video from a single 2D image? Feasible?

Today is proving a fertile one for user experience developments. After the Microsoft Silverlight announcement we now have Fotowoosh. [Thanks Mike Arrington for the heads-up.] The scenario:

  1. Upload a single 2D image, preferably of an outdoor scene, to Fotowoosh
  2. Fotowoosh mangles the image and generates a 3D image
  3. You download a Flash movie that shows a camera flying round the 3D image
  4. Your web slideshows now become 3D videos of you photos

Pretty cool. Of course we have seen a more impressive Photosynth fly around in a previous blog entry of mine, but that took hundreds of 2D images and a lot of processing power.
